Bachelor of
Science in Computer Science
As a computer science major at the University of Hartford pursuing a Bachelor
of Science degree, you will explore both theoretical and applied computer
science. Our program offers you a solid foundation in mathematics, software
design, machine architecture, and operating systems. Building on this
foundation, you can then delve into an in-depth study in your own area
of interest, choosing from among such topics as graphics, artificial intelligence,
database management, operating systems, compiler theory, networked systems,

Bachelor of Arts in Computer
Science
The Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science provides the flexibility to
allow a student to tailor the major to satisfy individual talents and
goals. It combines a set of required core courses with the opportunity
to choose from among a wide variety of elective courses in the various
areas of computer science.

Course Sequence for a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science
Minor in Computer Science
The minor in Computer Science is available to all students. The minor
consists of 20 credits. Core requirements - 11 credits: CS 114, CS 115
and CS 220; electives - 9 credits: three additional 200-level-and above
Computer Science courses. Transfer students must satisfy the above
requirements with a minimum of 6 credits of Computer Science electives
completed at the University of Hartford. A minor in Computer Science is
formally declared by completing a form available at the A&S Dean's
Office.
Certificate in Computer Science
The certificate program in Computer Science is available to college
graduates. To enter the program, students must have obtained a
baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and successfully
completed two semesters of calculus. If students have not had
calculus, they may take it at the University of Hartford. The
certificate program consists of 21 credits: CS114, CS115, CS220, M221, and 2
upper-level courses in CS (minimum of 6 credits). To apply
for the Certificate in Computer Science, contact the Center for
Graduate and Adult Academic Services. The application form is available at their office.
