Dr. Laurence Gould, Professor of Physics
BS, Carnegie-Mellon University; MA, PhD, Temple University
Research Interests: mathematical physics and science education, symbolic computational physics, a critical analysis of global warming, the foundations of quantum theory, and the history of science. Gould is also Chairman of the Executive Board of the International Symmetry Association and was Chair (2004) of the New England Section of the American Physical Society.

Dr. James McDonald, Assistant Professor of Physics
BS, Clarkson University; PhD, University of Connecticut
Research Interests: low-energy nuclear physics as applied to the Standard Solar Model, including collaborations at the University of Connecticut, Duke University, Yale University, UniversitŽ Catholique de Louvain in Belgium, and the Weizmann Institute in Israel. Secondary: applied photonics and the use of lasers in manufacturing including collaboration with the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture and the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology.

Research Interests: Condensed matter with focus on lattice dynamics as a function of temperature and pressure applied to geophysics and phase transitions in minerals.
